New sizes of the Festo handling system EXCM open up new horizons
The compact gantry EXCM from Festo is ideal for applications where every millimetre counts. With the expanded EXCM-30 and the new EXCM-40, the EXCM family now has two big strong brothers – for larger workspaces and higher loads.
The gantry provides an optimum ratio between installation space and working space and is ideal for very compact machines as it can be installed directly on a worktable without an external control cabinet. The main applications of the EXCM-30 version are in small parts assembly and handling or in electronics manufacturing and laboratory processes. Its precise and robust recirculating ball bearing guide is able to absorb large forces and torques, even at high speed.
Optimum use of space
New to the EXCM-30 is a clean look housing. The cover of the Y-axis provides basic protection against the ingress and discharge of particles. This is especially valuable in cases of upside-down installation. The EXCM-30 now has a flexible and simple energy supply concept with a 3D chain and a universal flange adapter. The Y-stroke can be expanded to 410, 460 and 510 mm.
The EXCM-40 is distinguished by an even larger working area of up to 2000 mm in the X direction and 1000 mm in the Y direction. Thanks to the 48 V power supply, loads of up to
4 kg can be handled very dynamically. Optionally, accessories including multipole and compressed air connection for electric and pneumatic pick and place units are pre-installed. When delivered, the actuators are completely connected. Result: the lead time for engineering, assembly and installation are reduced to a minimum.
Special controller package
A controller package consisting of two motors and the controller CMXH is available for both versions. This offers an STO function in accordance with EN 61800-5-2 for enhanced safety. Furthermore, the controller can operate with a high-power supply voltage of 24 to 48 V. The I/O interface with PNP configuration ensures universal communication.
