Stevia-based sweetener company SweeGen has clinched the first place in the “Best Extract Category 2019 – 3 leaves” for its non-GMO and zero-calorie sweetener BESTEVIA e+ at the World Stevia Organisation’s (WSO) 9th World Convention on Stevia, Stevia Taste Awards, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
The award is based on the evaluation of taste experts and convention attendees’ votes. SweeGen’s BESTEVIA e+ competed in the “Stevia Tasteful Award – Extract Category”.
Michael Halvorsen, senior director, business development EMEA, commented, “Our strategy to win the competition was to enter a simple lemon water to showcase the great taste and sweetness of BESTEVIA e+ which are favourable qualities of the sweetener.”
To achieve high purity, SweeGen employs a enzymatic bioconversion process starting with stevia leaf extract. This process enabled SweeGen to obtain the non-GMO Project verification for its BESTEVIA stevia sweeteners.
The taste quality results in a clean, sugar-like profile that can replace high amounts of sugar or artificial sweeteners in beverages, dairy products, baked goods and nutritional foods, and CBD solutions, amongst many other applications.
SweeGen’s e+ stevia sweetener, in combination with modulation and mouthfeel/texture components, is the foundation of the company’s BESTEVIA Taste Solutions sugar reduction platform.
