Here, functional food ingredients can play a key role. Take mineral particles, for example; as high-purity raw materials with origins dating back to ancient times, they can easily and effectively meet the growing demands of today’s food industry.
En route to tomorrow
Back in 2019, market research company Mintel published a report on global food trends for 2030.1 So, four years on, let us see how accurate those predictions have turned out to be. Three major developments were identified in the report: Successful companies will be those who “incorporate change” and thus improve the health of the planet, and its population. Technology will enable consumers to follow “smart diets”, meaning a construct of hyper-individualised approaches to physical and mental health. Finally, consumer trust in food science and technology will increase, as these become vital tools for safeguarding food supply and producing “high-tech harvests”.
