Puratos acquires US nut ingredient company Vör Foods, accelerating baking innovation

Belgian baking and chocolate ingredient giant Puratos Group announced the acquisition of American nut ingredient manufacturer Vör Foods to accelerate its layout in the field of baking food innovation. Through this acquisition, Puratos will further expand the rapidly growing high-end dessert ingredient market and strengthen its production capacity in the United States.

Vör Foods is headquartered in Pennsylvania and specializes in producing clean-label nut butters and nut-based fillings. Its products mainly use locally sourced American nuts, providing customers with a more traceable supply chain and shorter delivery times. Its SQF-certified production base, established in 2016, is only a 35-minute drive from Puratos’ U.S. operations center, facilitating technical collaboration and capacity integration between the two parties.

Andy Brimacombe, President of Puratos North America, stated that the Vör team’s expertise in the nut sector and flexible production system will help the group provide customers with higher quality and innovative dessert ingredient solutions. Frank Steck, CEO of Vör Foods, believes that joining Puratos will combine the strengths of both parties to create greater value for customers through a global network.

With the growing consumer demand for high-end nut-based sweets, nut-based raw materials have become one of the fastest-growing categories in the baking industry. Pierre Tossut, CEO of Puratos Group, pointed out that this acquisition will enhance the group’s expertise in nut raw materials and promote long-term value creation in the global market. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. (Source: FOODBEV)
