
Innovative sustainable packaging solutions provider, Parkside, has picked up top honours in the food markets category at the Packaging Gateway Excellence Awards, for its compostable pack project with Riverford Foods.
The award highlighted the blend of performance and innovation that has become a hallmark of the Parkside business, and particularly that of its Park2Nature sustainable packaging range.
Leading organic produce supplier, Riverford, currently uses 82% less plastic in its food packaging when compared to mainstream supermarkets and has a precise aim of ensuring all its packaging meets its strong environmental strategy.
Winning solution Park2Nature is a sustainable, TUV accredited compostable range of flexible packaging laminates made from renewable resources, such as ethically sourced plant fibres. The class leading material structures enable brands, producers, and retailers to lessen their reliance on petrochemicals.
The range combines greener packaging with robust product protection through the food supply chain, enhanced shelf-life capabilities and meets the strict hygiene standards of modern food manufacturing.

The innovative pack design was created in partnership with Futamura, a renewable and compostable cellulose film provider. Futamura films provide excellent oxygen, aroma, and moisture barriers that extend product shelf life, while maintaining optimum flavour and form part of Parkside’s ever-expanding Park2Nature range of packaging.
