Jungbunzlauer expands citrics plant in Canada

Jungbunzlauer has embarked on a further expansion of the existing citrics plant in Port Colborne, Canada.

The decision comes as a response to a strong and growing global demand for citric acid and citrates as functional and bio-based ingredients in products ranging from food, beverages, detergents and industrial applications, driven by its customers looking for safe and biodegradable products coming from sustainable products coming from sustainable production plants.

The Port Colborne plant already has a production infrastructure and an integrated raw material supply chain, with an adjacent corn wet milling plant. The company has built on its experience in the fermentation industry combining processes and manufacturing technology, as well as sustainability policy.

The expansion process will take approximately a year, and will further Jungbunzlauer’s position for citric acid, sodium citrate and potassium citrate, supporting its customers with products in North and Latin America.
