Johannes Schubert appointed managing director in subsidiary of Schubert Packaging Systems

The 31-year-old Johannes Schubert is following the footsteps of his father, Gerald Schubert, who served as managing director of Schubert Packaging Systems GmbH. From 1 July 2021, he will take on the position of managing director in a major subsidiary of the Crailsheim-based packaging machine manufacturer (Germany).

Family is a top priority at Gerhard Schubert GmbH. The third generation is now also represented in a key role with the innovative packaging machine manufacturer. Johannes Schubert, grandson of the company founder Gerhard Schubert and son of Gerald Schubert, has been working in the family business for many years. It was his grandfather who shaped his career path and gave him the impetus for his successful career to date.

“He advised me to learn as much as I could in our family’s business. Between 2008 and 2011, I trained as an industrial mechanic at our headquarters in Crailsheim. Like every apprentice with us, I started small and there was no special treatment for me,” Johannes recounted. Following his apprenticeship, he worked as a project manager in sales and took on responsibility for several major international projects. In Schubert’s North American subsidiary in Charlotte, North Carolina, US, he gained additional experience abroad, then returned to his home in Crailsheim after just under two years.

Johannes Schubert in tune with the changing times

For two years, Johannes was responsible for the development of the Schubert Flowmodul as product manager and played a key role in its successful market launch. The Flowmodul is a product milestone in Gerhard Schubert GmbH’s history. The highly flexible and multifunctional flow-wrapping machine is used for a wide variety of products: chocolate bars, biscuits, cakes, chocolate figures, yogurt cups and even ice cream are securely packaged in a wide range of format sizes and packaging materials.

Next step on the career ladder

Johannes has two experienced Schubert colleagues at his side. After 16 years, Peter Gabriel has handed over his position as managing director of Schubert Packaging Systems GmbH to the third-generation Schubert. However, he will continue to support the Schubert successor as commercial director of the parent company and as a mentor, together with Olaf Horrenberger, long-standing and experienced managing director of Schubert Packaging Systems. As of July 2021, Olaf and Johannes will jointly manage the Schubert Packaging Systems business.

Company founder Gerhard Schubert is delighted that his grandson is advancing to the managing director level: “I am proud of him and very pleased with his commitment. I am sure that Schubert’s third generation will continue to successfully manage our family business. I wish Johannes a good start and much success.”
