Equipped for a broad array of configurations and options thanks to our distinctive modular design philosophy, the Cermex range of VersaFilm® shrink-wrappers sometimes goes far beyond the requirements of generic, slow-to-medium speed overwrapping operations. Preserving the essential DNA and assets of the VersaFilm® family, VersaFilm Access is a solution that is better suited to speeds of up to 60 cycles per minute and more compact than a standard VersaFilm® unit.
Based on the highly satisfactory field test results obtained from the 15 machines installed since late 2015, this ‘Design to Cost’ approach has succeeded in creating one of the best quality/price/performance solutions on the market. A solution designed specifically for low-to-medium speed demands
In order to create a machine which corresponds perfectly to the requirements of low and medium speed overwrapping operations, Cermex adopted a ‘Design to Cost’ approach to its industry-leading VersaFilm® seamless shrink-wrapping platform. The result is VersaFilm Access, maintaining the superior performance criteria of its namesake in a simplified format.
Overwrapping Product Manager Valérie Cattenoz explains more:
“The VersaFilm® range is best known for its high-speed capacities and modular design, allowing for advanced customization based on clients’ precise configuration requirements. VersaFilm Access is designed for serve a slightly different purpose. This is a robust, easy-to-use machine calibrated to offer maximum value for money on packaging lines operating at speeds of up to 60 cycles/minute.”

Better quality/price/performance ratio
The key assets of VersaFilm Access correspond to the demands we hear most frequently from industry clients wrapping products at speeds of up to 60 cycles per minute.
The adjustable pin gating system (SDR) is ideal for quick and easy changeovers between packaging formats, while the extractible injection table allows for precise control of the film infeed (neutral or printed). Another crucial improvement is the shrink tunnel, with its optimized air circulation and improved insulation allowing for a substantial reduction in energy consumption. Accessibility is another top priority, hence the positioning of the electrical cabinet just next to the shrink tunnel. VersaFilm Access also features an ergonomic and intuitive 15” HMI touch screen.
On top of all that, a raft of customizable options makes it possible to tailor the machine to each user’s precise specifications. For example, the shrink tunnel comes with 2 or 3 different heating modules, depending on the required speed. The product collations and pitch will determine the size of the frame, with two widths available (680 or 880 mm). VersaFilm Access can also handle three different packaging formats: film only, film + pad or film + tray. The system offers two in-feed options: in line or conical.
Last but not least, advanced options allow us to create bespoke configurations for optimum performance. If clients are keen to minimize stoppage times, our automatic reel changeover system keeps things flowing smoothly. Along the same lines, an extra mandrel can be added to hold a second reel of film, optimizing film changeovers further still. Another optional extra allows you to neutralize electrical charges using a generator and anti-static bars. For added security, an RFID option provides user recognition technology. The final option currently available allows nested packs in order to optimize pallet and finished product shipping cost.
Maintaining the DNA of the VersaFilm® range:
Stripped down to the essentials to keep costs to a minimum, Versafilm Access nonetheless maintains all of the principal advantages of the VersaFilm® shrink-wrapping family:
<Designed and finished to the usual high Cermex standards
<Compatible with a broad range of films: 27 to 100 microns (with factory settings requiring no future adjustments whatever the film thickness)
<The latest in servo-motor, automation and human-machine interface technology, ensuring maximum ease of use for operators and maintenance personnel
<Modular automation program structure, allowing for future system updates and addition of new plug and play components
<External memory cards for program updates
<Automatic system diagnosis using the HMI interface, with remote access available via the ‘Diagnostic Manager’ service, allowing real-time identification of incidents and quick, efficient intervention
<3D operating and maintenance manual, making part searches and identification easier.
