New winter edition brings warmth to South Korean consumers.
Daesang, a South Korean health food producer, has chosen SIG’s Heat&Go, the microwavable technology for aseptic carton packs, to launch the new Nucare Nutrition Drink winter edition.
Nucare is a nutritional dairy supplement drink with roasted rice flavour, designed for people who have difficulty swallowing or prefer liquid food as part of a nutritionally-balanced diet. In South Korea, roasted rice is considered to be fortifying and gives beverages a delicate taste and aroma. Choosing SIG’s Heat&Go packaging solution for the new winter edition offers a quick and easy, complete meal replacement, which can be heated in a microwave to bring added value and convenience to this target market.
With a preference for warm on-the-go beverages among Asian consumers, most products have only been available in cafes or convenience stores. SIG’s Heat&Go microwavable packaging solution opens up a new channel for hot vending and using microwave ovens. Additionally, the warmed packs can be a used as a handwarmer while enjoying the beverage outside in a cold weather.

Nucare winter edition is offered in SIG’s packaging format combiblocMini 200ml, and is filled on SIG filling machines. An upgrade is needed so the filler can run standard and microwavable material interchangeably. The gentle aseptic process ensures the 22 vitamins and minerals in Nucare are retained and the delicate taste and aroma protected. Heat&Go is aluminium-free, allowing it to be heated in the microwave without compromising on product quality.
